10 Sena workers arrested for protesting at BCCI headquarters granted bail

Mumbai: 10 Sena workers who were arrested for barging into BCCI office, were granted bail by a Magistrate's court on surety of Rs 2000 each. Mumbai Police had arrested the 10 sainiks who created a ruckus at the BCCI headquarters here on Monday morning to protest against talks between BCCI President Shashank Manohar and PCB chief Shaharyar Khan. The workers were arrested under Section 141, 143, 149 of IPC and 37(1)/135 of Bombay Police Act.

According to media reports, the Indian and Pakistan board chiefs met secretly in a hotel to dicuss the bilateral series which is supposedly to take place in December after Shiv Sena workers force them to take the meeting to a more prominent setting, the BCCI office.

The meeting was to take place in Mumbai but was rescheduled in view of the protest. "The talks have not been called off. Mr Manohar and Mr Khan will speak to each other in evening Monday and Tuesday. They are coming to Delhi for another round of talks," IPL Chairman and senior Board functionary Rajiv Shukla told PTI.

The noisy protests by over a hundred workers shouted slogans at the Board office during which BCCI President Manohar was ghearoed and forced the cancellation of talks temporarily.

Sena workers surrounded Manohar and asked him not to have any ties with India’s arch-nemesis. Waving black and saffron flags, they demanded immediate cancellation of the talks and also insisted Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar to leave the country.

There is speculation that the two neighbours could play either a bilateral series in the UAE or agree to a possible triangular series in December also involving Bangladesh.
