Bihar Polls: Amit Shah confident NDA will win assembly elections

BJP chief downplays reports claiming Grand Alliance posing a threat to NDA

Patna: After assessing and analyzing reports of two last two phases of polling in Bihar and reworking strategies for the upcoming three phases scheduled for October 28, November 1 and November 5, BJP national president dismissed all reports that Grand Secular Alliance was posing a threat to the NDA in the ongoing assembly election.

Amit Shah claimed that they were gaining on 32 to 34 seats in the first phase and on 22 to 24 seats in the second phase.

The BJP chief said the package announcement by the prime minister and the issue of development is pulling voters particularly the youths of the state towards the party. Rejecting claims by his own party leaders including Shatrughan Sinha’s tweets that Party has not performed well in the last two phase he said ““we are confident that Party will win the assembly elections in Bihar”.

Adding further he said, “People of Bihar want the BIMARU tag removed so irrespective of castes and community they are turning towards our party. Only our party can bring change in the state”.

The BJP was put on the back foot after the political row erupted on the issue of reservation policy, clarifying party’s stand on Monday after a marathon meeting with leaders of NDA, BJP national president Amit Shah said “BJP is not against the reservation policy it’s the grand secular alliance which is diverting the issue by doing politics of backwards and forwards”.

Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav had been raising the issue during their poll campaign dubbing RSS Chief Mohan Bhahwat’s call for review of reservation policy as “dangerous for the people”.

The BJP is contesting assembly elections in Bihar by forming and alliance with three parties that has the support of backwards castes which includes Dalits, Mahadalits and OBCs.

Mr. Shah claimed that BJP’s support base increased in Bihar after the package announcement by Prime Minister, he said people are with the party to stop the Jungle Raj from returning back and development of the state.

“Mood of the People is in favor of our party as they don’t want the return of Jungle Raj in Bihar and are eagerly waiting for the development of the state”.

When asked to clarify whether the party after the analysis of last two phases have decided to declare the candidate for the post of Chief Minister he said “there is a parliamentary board in the party which will decide on the issue after the results of the assembly election”.
