Medha Patkar: India’s secular fabric under threat
NAPM activists from around 15 states participated
Hyderabad: Stating that the country is facing a great crisis as its secular fabric was under threat due to the spreading virus of communalism, social activist Medha Patkar on Sunday launched a movement against communalism in the city.
“Violence in any name, God or cow, is rejected by people’s movements, history has proved it and will do so again,” Ms Patkar said, emphasising the importance of shunning “Hate Politics.”
The discussion on Agrarian Crisis and Development Priorities in Telangana and AP was facilitated by the National Alliance of People’s Movements and M. Kodandaram, farmers’ leaders. NAPM activists from around 15 states participated.
The attendees also spoke on how “deals and handing over of natural resources to foreign companies was taking place in the country, without any consultation with the people.”
