Mercury kills winter chill in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh
The maximum temperatures in both states stood above normal by 2º to 5º Celsius
Hyderabad: It is past mid-October and winter is far from sight. In fact, mercury levels are soaring across Telangana state and Andhra Pradesh, leaving people prespiring.
The maximum temperatures in both states stood above normal by 2º to 5º Celsius. On Saturday, Hanamkonda recorded 37ºC degree Celsius, the warmest in TS, and while Nandigama and Kurnool at 36ºC topped the list AP.
The minimum temperatures stayed above normal in both states. In Hyderabad, while the norm for this time of the year is 31ºC, the mercury has breached 35ºC-mark many times over the fortnight.
An expert from the Indian Meteorological Department said that the reason for high temperatures was the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon. The cloud cover over both states has decreased, leaving behind clear skies and increasing temperatures.
