Vijayawada: The video of a cop thrashing a scribe and cameraman of a news channel for shooting a view of him misusing an elevator meant for devotees is going viral on the social media. The video, uploaded on a page called Bezawada Media, is trending on Facebook.
Inspector G. Chenna Kesava Rao of Tuni rural police station is seen expressing his anger at a scribe after he noticed that his action was being captured on a cellphone. The cop tried to grab the camera, thrashed the scribe and cameraman and then ordered his junior cops to grab the phone.
Media personnel later met commissioner of police D. Gautam Sawang and were promised action would be taken against the inspector. Journalists at Indrakeeladri staged a silent protest by covering their mouths with black ribbon, demanding action against the inspector. In the evening, protests were staged at Lenin Centre.
