Boy enters shop for theft, gets stuck

The accused is a 11-yr-old boy from Gangaram village

Hyderabad: An 11-year-old boy who entered a mobile phone store through a small hole in the roof for stealing phones got stuck in the store as he could not come out through the roof.

The store staff saw the boy when they opened the store on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, the AP Balala Hakkula Sangham appealed to the police to hand over the boy to his mother and not to torture him.

The boy is a native of Gangaram village in Vikarabad mandal. His father Rao died a few years ago and he was staying with his mother.

His mother is working as a daily wager. The boy had stopped studies due to financial problems.

Police said that on Friday night he climbed the roof of New Standard Mobiles store in Vikarabad.

“He got into the store through a small hole in the roof. He packed a few mobiles in a pouch, tried to climb back, but due to lack of height he could not get back. He gave up after sometime and slept on the floor,” said SI Shekar.

When the staff opened the store on Saturday morning they found the boy sitting in a corner. They closed the shop and informed the police.

A case under Sections 457 & 380 was registered against the boy. The AP Balala Hakkula Sangham appealed to the police not to torture the minor.

“As the boy is a minor any kind of harassment is a violation of child rights. We request the police not violate the law,” association president Anuradha Rao said in an official release.
