Mega Event: AP extends invitation for Amaravati stone laying programme
Guntur: The distribution of invitation cards for the capital foundation programme resumed on Saturday at Tullur.
Minister for municipal administration and APCRDA vice-chairman, P. Narayana, along with officials, is visiting houses of donor farmers and inviting them to the foundation programme in a traditional manner by offering sweets and silk clothes.
Mr Narayana, along with Tadikonda MLA T. Sravankumar and others, thanked the donor farmers and said that they would be remembered through the history of Amaravati for their contribution.
The minister said a separate enclosure is reserved for donor farmers during the foundation programme. He said that Telugu people will celebrate two festivals in the future, Dasara and the the new capital ceremony on October 22.
He added that the government is making all arrangements to shift the donor farmer families to the venue. Mr. Narayana said that the arrangements are nearing completion and there is no need to worry about rain menace as waterproof tents have been set up at the venue.
Minister for I&PR, Palle Raghunath Reddy inspected the work and participated by putting bricks on the platform. A separate platform is also under construction to keep soil and water collected for the foundation rituals.
The Amaravati Sankalpa Jyothi (light) would be lit on October 22 to launch the foundation rituals on the water-soil platform.
Guntur district collector Kantilal Dande, Guntur range IG of police N. Sanjay and others visited the venue. Speaking on the occasion, the collector said that Amaravati Sankalpa Jyothi would be kept opposite the Yagasala in front of the main dais. He added that the venue would be handed over to the SPG on October 19. Mr Dande also said that traffic would be restricted on major roads.
