Two in race for IUC director’s post in Kakinada
ECE professor did 16 Ph.Ds in his career

Kakinada: Just at a time, the Inter University Centre (IUC) for Teacher Education at Kakinada has been sidelined in NDA’s government with the announcement of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi that another Centre has been sanctioned to Banaras, the University Grants Commission issued notification for the applicants for the post of Director has given a boost to the Centre.
It comes as a huge relief to the aspirants and the teaching faculty has expressed happiness over the notification as the centre will function from Kakinada. Two professors of JNTUK are in the fray of director’s post of IUC, Kakinada Centre.
The former VC in-charge of JNTUK and present Rector B. Prabhakara Rao is one of aspirants for Centre. This ECE professor did 16 Ph.Ds in his career and another three are in progress. He applied to several universities for vice-chancellor’s post.
Another professor and di-rector of Research and De-velopment of JNTUK Dr.S. Srinivasa Kumar applied for post of IUC. Srinivasa Kumar who is also an expert ECE courses, is one of the aspirants for post.
He is currently the acting as coordinator for the IUC Centre. He did five Ph.D in his career. The IUC Centre was inaugurated by the then Union Minister M.M. Pallam Raju in January, 2014 at JNTUK for giving qualitative training for teachers and the Union Government can sanction Rs.200 crores per annum for the Centre. However, Pallam Raju failed in his bid for re-election and from then on, the project has seen a downward spiral. The state BJP President and also Visakhapatnam MP K.Haribabu raised the issue in Lok Sabha and secured a promise for the Centre for its functioning. The JNTUK authorities say that the Centre is a big boon to the education sector as it gives qualitative teaching techniques to the faculty.
