Telugu Desam protest for farmers on October 19
The party will organise a dharna at Gunfoundry in Hyderabad
Warangal: Telugu Desam district president Gandra Satyanarayana on Friday said that the party will organise a dharna at Gunfoundry in Hyderabad on October 19 with farmers, demanding one time settlement of loan waiver and ex-gratia to farmers’ families.
TD senior leader Revuri Prakash Reddy said a delegation of party leaders met the Union ministers in Delhi recently, and brought to their notice the issues being faced by farmers in TS. “The Union ministers said they did not receive any drought report from the state government asking for help and so they cannot do anything. This is proof that the TRS government is not at all bothered about the distressed farmers in the state. We demand the CM to immediately take steps to alleviate the conditions of the farmers in the state,” Mr Reddy said.
He added that all efforts made by the Opposition to bring the farmers’ problems to the government’s notice had been ignored. Mr Reddy said the Central government was anyway supporting cotton farmers by giving them MSP through the CCI, but the state government was not even giving any bonus to the farmers. “Our neighbouring state Maharashtra is giving bonus of Rs 500 to support its farmers, but our government is doing nothing for our farmers,” he said.
