Telangana government's apathy dismays court

State told to counter PIL on illegal godowns
Hyderabad: Expressing dismay at the apathy of the authorities in taking steps to protect government lands, the Hyderabad High Court on Friday issued notices to the Telangana state government on a PIL challenging the failure of the authorities to prevent godowns from being constructed by private persons illegally on government lands in Gadwal mandal of Mahbubnagar district.
A division bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt was dealing with a PIL by one G. Krishna Reddy of the district, stating that the godowns had been constructed on about 24 acres situated at Puddur village in Gadwal mandal.
Mr Reddy urged the court to direct the authorities to take steps for suspending all business operations, including operation of godowns.
Questioning why the authorities remained silent when huge chunks of government lands were occupied by private individuals, the bench directed the authorities’ and the private respondents to file their affidavits on the averments of the PIL and posted the matter to November 23.
