Sub inspector kidnaps realtor from Alwal, frees
Hyderabad: A sub inspector allegedly kidnapped a realtor from his house at Alwal on Thursday night. According to sources, SI Pratap Lingam from Nizamabad, along with his men, arrived at the house of Mr G. Srinivas Rao to discuss a land sold to them by the realtor.
Mr Srinivas had allegedly sold the same land to nine others. Following an argument, Mr Rao was forced inside a vehicle and whisked away. He was later released when the family members lodged a complaint with the police.
Mr Srinivas Rao has been into real estate for the last few years and runs Sri Venkateshwara Group. He owned 900 yards of land under survey no. 31,32 & 33 in Panchasheel Colony in the Alwal circle. He divided the land into nine parts and sold them to Mr Shyam Reddy and eight others in December 2014, each buying 100 yards.
However, in March 2014, he sold the same land to Pratap Lingam and his friend. He registered the land to them, 400 yards to each.
Pratap Lingam is posted at the Sadashivnagar Police station in Nizamabad district. After a month, the cop sold the land to one Mr Laxminarayana and Mr Raghu, natives of Chegunta in Medak district. In May, they realised that they had been cheated by Mr Srinivas. They had paid him Rs 1.75 crore in all.
They had asked him to return their money but he had promised to show them new land. He was, however, delaying the process.
On Thursday at iround 4 pm, the SI, Mr Shyam Reddy and others came to Rao’s home to settle the issue.
“As they were discussing the matter, an argument broke out between them. Angered by Srinivas’s negligent behaviour, Pratap Lingam and his men forced Srinivas into their car and left the place. It happened in the presence of his family members.” said Alwal inspector Mr Harikrishna.
Mr Srinivas’s family members immediately approached the police. When the kidnappers came to know that a complaint had been lodged, they dropped him home at around 11.30 pm and left.
Based on the complaint from the victim, a case under Sections 363, 448 & 506 of IPC was registered against the cop and notices were issued to him under section 41 of CrPC.
“It is learnt that more people were involved in the kidnap issue. Based on the investigation, we will proceed further,” added the inspector.
