AP new capital: Narendra Modi to set stone for mobile hub in Amaravati
The Rs 1, 000-crore facility is coming up at Tirupati
Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for a mobile manufacturing hub being set in Tirupati during his visit to AP for the Amaravati foundation ceremony on October 22. The Rs 1, 000-crore facility is coming up at Tirupati on 65 acres with an initial employment potential of 10,000 jobs. Major mobile manufacturing firms such as Micromax, Karbonn and Celkon mobiles will set up anchor units at the facility.
These companies have signed agreements with the AP government to set up their units at the industrial park coming up near Renigunta airport on the outskirts of Tirupati. Officials said even the Taiwan-based Foxconn, the world’s largest contract mobile handset maker, decided to set up a manufacturing plant in AP.

“Officials from AP government are holding negotiations with more mobile handset and component makers, including Intex and is looking at creating an ecosystem,” officials in the industries department said.
Officials said the state government has also identified government land close to the air cargo facility of Renigunta airport for setting up hardware component makers. The advantage with the two locations is they are close to Chennai and Krishnapatnam ports.
