LDF targets graft, neglect

According to Dr Thomas Isaac, corruption has become the trademark of UDF Government

Thiruvananthapuram: Notwithstanding the attack and counter-attacks between CPM leadership and Vellapally Natesan over SNDP-BJP tie-up, on the ground the LDF campaign managers are focussing on UDF government's corruption and neglect of local bodies in terms of funds and price rise.

The Left camp claims that it has managed to checkmate the RSS move to appropriate Sree Narayana Guru's legacy by exploiting Vellapally's political aspirations to a great extent.

His declaration on secular alliance at least indicated his hesitance to come under BJP flag. However, the CPM is not taking Vellapally's statements at face value as it believes the SNDP leader is capable of striking deal with BJP at different places in return for personal favours.

“We are focussing on UDF government's corruption, neglect of local bodies in terms of funds, collapse of public distribution system, price rise etc. But we will continue to expose the SNDP-BJP-RSS move to polarise people on religious lines for electoral gains,” said CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

"Bar bribe case, corruption in cashew sector, crisis in PDS, price rise are part of political discourse in campaign. Our party also wants to bring development agenda to the centrestage," said CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran.

According to Dr Thomas Isaac, corruption has become the trademark of UDF Government. “Compared to other states, corruption was less in Kerala. Getting caught in corruption was considered a big disgrace in society. Even in matters of good governance, the track record was much better because of the historic socio political reasons. However, this line has been completely erased by Oommen Chandy,” Isaac said in his FB post.
