Kothagudem Thermal Power Station engineers to get promotion
KTPS engineers worked 12 hours per day for the last 125 days
Khammam: The electrical engineers working in Kothagudem Thermal Power Station would get promotions soon. It was decided to create supernumerary posts to the 1,252 engineers, who were sent to Andhra Pradesh first on their local status and taken back after High Court direction on the issue, to avert barrier to the promotions of Telangana engineers there.
The engineers of KTPS have been opposing the taking back of Andhra Pradesh engineers and staging dharnas for the last two months demanding the government not to give placements. The government took the decision of giving promotions as a token of appreciation to the KTPS engineers who worked 12 hours per day for the last 125 days after sending 1,252 engineers to AP. Interestingly, no power interruption was taken place for the last four months in KTPS.
The promotion to the Telangana engineers is a long due and the previous governments kept the file pending. KTPS, which is producing 1,700 MW power at present, is the major thermal plant in TS.
