Karnataka: Two more debt-ridden farmers end lives
They died after consuming poison
BIDAR-KALABURAGI: Two more farmers, one each in Bidar and Kalaburagi districts, committed suicide because they could not repay their loans, on Friday. Police said Ramesh Chandu Rathod, 35, of Tegampura tanda in Bhalki taluk died after consuming poison. Mr Rathod, who is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters, owned one acre, but had borrowed Rs 15,000 from Bidar DCC bank. Soon after he drank poison, he was rushed to the government Hospital in Bidar, but succumbed soon.
Another farmer, Earanna Duttargao, 25, of Bairamadagi in Afzalpur taluk too washed down poison and died. He was married only about a year ago, and owned 20 acres. He, however, was in debt after borrowing Rs 20 lakh from a local branch of a public sector bank.
