THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Media Research Institute will honour Iron Lady of Manipur, Irom Chanu Sharmila, and Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi with the coveted Gandhi Darshan Award in recognition of their selfless contributions in different fields.
This was disclosed by Attingal Vijay Kumar, director, Media Research Institute, at a press conference here on Friday.
The other prominent personalities who will receive awards are actor Mammootty for My Tree Challenge aimed at the protection of nature and Hassan Kunhi for his contributions in the field of business.
Sabriye Tenberken, a prominent social worker and co-founder of the Braille without Borders, will give away the awards at a function to be held in the first week of December.
The winners were selected by a jury headed by Justice (retd) D. Sridevi. The previous winners of Gandhi Darshan Award are Anna Hazare, P. Gopinathan Nair and P. Viswambharan.
