ADGP Jacob Thomas unhappy with removal
THIRUVANTHAPURAM: Senior IPS officer Jacob Thomas, who was recently shunted out of the Fire and Rescue Services commandant general post, has lamented that the government had not bothered to seek his explanation before acting against him.
“After all I have been serving the government over the last 30 years. Hence the government could have at least sought my explanation on the circumstances in which I issued the circular, before removing me from the post”, said Mr. Thomas told DC.
DGP-rank officer Mr. Thomas who, is on long-leave till October 18, said that he had not yet decided on whether to take up the new post of the Kerala Police Housing Construction Corporation (KPHCC) managing director that was earlier occupied by an ADGP-rank officer or extend his leave until his grievances were addressed.
Though there were reports that he might opt for voluntary retirement from service, it is not in his immediate agenda.
He also said he insisted on safety norms of high-rise building considering the safety of those living there.
Mr Thomas was shifted from the FRS command general post on September 16, citing that various restrictions imposed on extending the services of FRS personnel for activities like clearing uprooted trees from roads could not be justified.
But there were strong allegations that pressure from the builder lobby led to Mr. Thomas’s ouster. Mr Thomas has been on leave since August 27
