Delhi minors’ rape: Condition of both victims stable
New Delhi: The condition of two minors, brutally raped in the capital, was stable and they were recovering at separate hospitals in the city.
While the two-and-a-half-year-old girl, who was raped by two men in Nihal Vihar area of west Delhi on Friday, is undergoing treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, the other victim, a five-year-old from East Delhi's Anand Vihar area, has been operated upon and is recuperating at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
"The two-and-a-half-year-old girl was brought (to the hospital) at 2.30 AM and she was bleeding from her private parts. She was attended to by our doctors. She is now stable and conscious and her bleeding has been brought under control," said Avneendra Prasad, medical superintendent of Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
The girl was kidnapped by two motorcycle-borne men from a Ramlila event in west Delhi's Nihal Vihar locality last night.
She was later found in a park bleeding profusely and crying. In the other case, the five-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by a co-tenant and two of his associates at a slum cluster in east Delhi's Anand Vihar area last evening.
"She was brought to our hospital at 11 PM after being referred by Dr Hedgewar Aarogya Sansthan in Karkardooma in a critical condition. A team of gynecologists performed surgery upon her at 2 AM and her perineum and vagina which got injured because of the sexual assault was reconstructed.
"Her condition is stable, she is conscious, awake and accepting meals orally. Her moral is good and she is strong. A team of counsellors has also been involved in the process. Our doctors are monitoring her condition consistently," said Dr Sunil Kumar, medical superintendent at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
