Mr XXXY in the house!

Popular music producer and DJ xxxy (Rupert Taylor) is visiting Chennai to play for club hoppers in the city
He is listed as the fourth best DJ in the world and has played at some of the world’s foremost festivals and many popular venues. His music has been appreciated and applauded by many including Pitchfork, which picked his track Ordinary Things as the best new track. Many have also appreciated his innovative interpretation of UK garage, classic house and techno. DJ XXXY, (Rupert Taylor, to his friends) has amassed a loyal fan following and promises to keep the night classic yet happening with his tracks. This popular DJ will be playing in city for the party hoppers at the Hilton Chennai, and also other venues in the country like Pune, Mumbai and Delhi.
This is his first time in India for a gig and XXXY is pretty excited about the opportunity of representing the Red Bull Music Academy. He said, “I am pretty excited about this and as far as preparations go, I am just getting my music ready. Sometimes, I play my own music a lot more than I normally would, so I am looking forward to judging the pulse of the crowd in different cities.”
Considering he doesn’t have too much of an idea about the club scene in India, he is quite open-minded about it. “I would play the music in my usual style and as far as playing to the crowd goes, it would all depend on the reactions I get,” he said and added, “If the crowd has high energy and they are interactive with my music, the travelling halfway across the world is worthwhile and I hope that happens.”
In fact, he reveals that it is the crowd’s high energy that keeps him hooked to his profession. It also breaks the monotony as different people in other parts of world react differently to his music. “Sometimes I get time to be a tourist in a new country. At other times, I catch a flight, play at the gig and then there is the flight to my next gig. The crowd and their reactions break the monotony,” he said.
Though the DJ started out as a music band member, he discovered about music softwares when he was in college and has been at it since. “I do miss having people around to bounce my ideas off and the company of other band members, when I am travelling. However, I am a stubborn person so I don’t think the idea of a music band would have worked well,” he explained. XXXY also hopes to listen to some new music in India and be inspired for his next track before he moves on!
