AP capital: Time capsule to store people’s thoughts in pylon

People can pen their thoughts on Amaravati on 'Letters of Resolve (Sankalpa Patralu)'

Vijayawada: People can pen their thoughts on Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, on “Letters of Resolve (Sankalpa Patralu)”, which will be placed inside the Time Capsule to be preserved beneath the pylon, which will be unveiled at Uddandarayunipalem on October 22.

“People can write about how the new capital should be and the way it should be constructed. They need not necessarily support the approved plan given by the government. They can suggest their views on the letters of resolve. The Time Capsule does not mean just a box containing these papers. It should house the opinions of people, the changing civil society, AP's tryst with destiny... If we look back after several years, we will get a satisfied feeling that we were also part of construction of a world-class capital,” Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said at a meeting with officers on the arrangements of the upcoming function.

While earlier it had been suggested that citizens could write about anything - bifurcation of the state, governance etc.. - it has now been confined only to the capital construction. On the last day of the “Mana Neeru-Mana Matti” programme, Mr Naidu has advised all temple EOs, including the TTD, to bring the sacred clay and water for the function.

For people to have an emotional bond with the new capital, the state government has also started a website with the tagline “My Brick, My Amaravati” through which bricks can be purchased online at Rs 10 each which would be used in the construction of the capital.

“We want to ensure the participation of everyone in the state for the construction, which is a once-in-a-life opportunity. A payment gateway, through which at least one brick can be donated, has been launched and these bricks are special and have a purpose. I request all of you to bless this novel initiative,” the CM said.

And the response has been instantaneous. One Mr Srinvas Valluri from Singapore purchased 108 e-bricks even as the launch of the payment gateway was underway. The CRDA employees have contributed one day's salary, which amounts to Rs 5,22,000, for the purchase of e-bricks.

The names of all those who purchase the bricks are automatically registered in the database. There is also a proposal to incorporate the names of those who order e-bricks on a large scale on the monument that will erected in the upcoming capital.

It has already been decided to hand over certificates signed by the CM to those who buy e-bricks. The payment gateway will enable people to buy e-bricks through the website www.amaravati.gov.in using debit and credit cards, said officials.
