Threat to attack Uttar Pradesh meat shop
Lucknow: Hindu outfits, including the Bajrang Dal, in Agra district have threatened to initiate chemical attacks on meat shops across the city if the ban on sale of meat during Navratri was not immediately implemented.
ADM city Rajesh Kumar said that he had sought a list of meat shops located near temples and would ask them to down their shutters during the Navratri period.
The ADM city said that legally it was not possible to force closure of meat shops during the festive season, but he would still try to convince the meat sellers to respect religious sentiments of the Hindu community.
“We will definitely try and convince meat shop owners who have their outlets near the temples, but we cannot force them to stop business,” he said.
The Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh (VHM) and Dharam Jagran Manch (DJM) demanded closure of all meat shops during Navratri .
