Telangana staff fume at leaders’ inaction

Attacked by MLAs, employees seek action

Hyderabad: Cracks have started to appear in the various TS employees associations over the issue of ruling TRS MLAs and leaders attacking and abusing government employees. District wings of the employees unions are angry at their state leaderships for not taking up the issue with the TRS government seriously despite such incidents being reported from districts every now and then.
District wings are now joining hands to take on the government directly, accusing their state leaderships of behaving like TRS activists and not coming to their rescue even after repeated attacks. While two such incidents, involving TRS MLAs Durgam Chennaiah and Sanjeeva Rao of allegedly attacking employees were reported in the last two days from Adilabad and Ranga Reddy districts, similar allegations were made a few months ago against TRS MLAs M. Yadagiri Reddy and Ch. Dharma Reddy.
What has angered the employees is that most of such attacks are being reported in TRS rule, which claims to be an ‘employee-friendly government’. Employees point out that the TRS achieved statehood for Telangana due to sacrifices made by employees and students and the “so-called employee leaders” were adopting a stoic silence despite repeated attacks on them.
“Employees represent the government. An attack on them amounts to attack on government. If employees fail to perform duties properly, there are several ways through which action can be taken against them,” said A. Padma Chary, TS Secretariat Employees Association. Employees are angry at the silence maintained by TNGOs leaders G. Deviprasad Rao and K. Ravinder Reddy. “Despite repeated attacks, these leaders are keeping quiet,” said Rajeshwar Reddy, tahsildaars association leader.
