Speech-impaired Geeta set to return from Pakistan
She will reach India probably within the next 10 days

New Delhi/Islamabad: Geeta, the hearing- and speech-impaired Indian woman living in Pakistan after accidentally crossing the border over a decade ago, will return home soon. She will reach India probably within the next 10 days, with the Indian government “almost completing the procedure” for bringing her back.
“Geeta will be back in India soon. We have located her family. She will be handed over to the family only after the DNA test,” external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted. There were indications that the most probable date for her arrival in India as of now is October 26.
Briefing reporters, ministry of external affairs (MEA) spokesman Vikas Swarup said three sets of photographs were sent to Geeta, out of which she has identified one photo as possibly that of her parents, but added that conclusive proof of parentage could be only established through DNA testing.
Geeta’s Indian nationality has already been verified and she will be brought to India.
