HRD ministry appointed Prof. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz as new vice-chancellor of Manuu
Hyderabad: The HRD ministry appointed Prof. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, principal of Zakir Husain College, New Delhi as the new vice-chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University(MANUU).
Manuu internal exams delayed
Internal examinations which were to be conducted this week in some departments of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, have been postponed and classes have gone haywire as teachers, students and even non-teaching staff of the university are on strike over the past four days.
On Thursday, striking Manuu Teachers Association received support from University of Hyderabad Teachers Association, president, Prof. Lakshmi Narayana. Student organisations from UoH also posted on Facebook supporting their protesting counterparts in Manuu.
The students protested on Thursday and demanded taking back of charges registered against some of them with the police by the Provost Prof. Aziz Banu, Proctor Prof. Abdul Wahid and by Prof. Pradeep Kumar.
Charges levelled against students by the professors in their individual complaints range from attempt to murder and molestation to physical assault.
However, none of the professors are ready to take back their complaints. Prof Wahid said,
“I am not ready to take back my complaint. I have not mentioned any students name in my complaint but I can identify those who assaulted me or spoke of killing me. Never did such a thing happen in the university. This is happening because some teachers of the university’s teachers association are inciting students against the administration and some professors. I and my family are in trauma after what happened on Monday where I was chased and assaulted by students.”
