People with tattoos are more likely to be aggressive, study claims

But they were no more likely to react with physical aggression than anyone else

Although tattoos have come a long from initially being associated with convicts and gangs to now being labelled as ‘body art’, recent studies reveal that tattooed people are found to be more aggressive and rebellious than those without.

The study, which carried out by Professor Viren Swami of Anglia Ruskin University, involved examining 378 adults – 181 women and 197 men – between the ages 20 and 58. Out of these participants, 97 had tattoos. It was discovered that those with tattoos were found to have ‘significantly higher’ levels of verbal aggression, anger and were even more rebellious than those without tattoos. However, the researcher added that the people with tattoos were no more likely to react with physical aggression than anyone else.

However, the study did not focus on the designs of the tattoos which could had a major impact on the conclusions. These findings were published in the journal Body Image, according to the Daily Mail.
