Baddies turning heroes is not a new phenomenon in Tamil cinema. Veteran actors like Rajinikanth, Sarath Kumar and Sathyaraj started their career as antagonists and later turned heroes and a name to reckon with. Roshan Basheer, the boy who played a negative role in the critically-acclaimed films Papanasam and as well as in its original Driyshyam, has bagged a Tamil film, Kubera Rasi, a bank heist story where he plays a lead protagonist.
Directed by Radhakrishnan, the film is about a young man who is fighting to save his ancestral house from being usurped by the local councillor in his village. In the process, he gets trapped in a bank robbery and how he comes out of the mess forms the crux. Mollywood actress Abhirami Suresh who acted in Kerala Naattilam Pengaludane has been roped in to play Roshan’s pair. “It is totally different from what I did in my previous film. I thoroughly enjoyed my shooting stint,” Roshan says.
