Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi Tab 2 dumped, camera confirmed for Oct 19 event

Xiaomi’s CEO has confirmed that the event will highlight a camera and not a phone

Well, every Mi fan and tech media analyst is out looking forward for the October 19 event in China. The event is marked by Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant, who will be announcing a new product from the Mi brand. However, many are assuming that the 5-year-old company will be launching their next flagship smartphone—the Mi 5, which is long overdue. As far as the older announcements were made by the company, Xiaomi was also supposed to launch the next version of their tablets, the Mi Tab 2, in Q3. Therefore, it was almost confirmed that the Mi 5 and / or the Mi Tab 2 would be the highlight of the day.

However, the invitation from the Xiaomi CEO Bin Lin on Weibo spoiled it for all. He stated that the event is not to launch the tablet or the flagship smartphone, but instead it would be something else. in his words, he posted ‘Not millet 5, notebooks, watches, plates, rice cookers, inflatable doll, nor bicycles, cars, aircraft, bombs, UFO’ on his Weibo blog.

A previous post on his account also showed up some type of a camera and a detachable lens that is up for launch on the event day. It looks like a professional DSLR camera that the Chinese company now wants to produce. Well, if the camera hits the market, it surely will be a massive game changer for the photography industry and will probably have rivals running for their money.

Xiaomi has definitely stunned the smartphone industry with their smartphones, tablet, home appliances and a lot more. With the DSLR camera in line, the Chinese startup will definitely help the premium gadget market look like an affordable luxury segment.

Well, we could be in for a massive surprise at the event if the flagship smartphone and the tablet also make it to the show at the very same event. Xiaomi is good at their teasing and surprises and we could see it coming this time. However, as for now, we just have a few days more of impatience and only October 19 can break that ice.
