Speed governors in commercial/transport vehicles by March, Karnataka government assures high court

Bengaluru: The state government on Wednesday assured the high court that it shall comply with the notification issued on August 11, 2015 to incorporate the speed governors in commercial/transport vehicles by March 31, 2016.

Following the assurance, the division bench, headed by acting Chief Justice S.K. Mukherjee, disposed off the petition filed by Y.N. Nanjappa, a retired HAL employee seeking directions for implementation of speed governors.

The petitioner has lost his 20-year-old son in a road accident. The court also expressed dissatisfaction over non-implementation of speed governors despite directions issued by the High Court and Supreme Courts.
