Maoist hunt gave first breakthrough

The police traced a number from which calls were coming, but it belonged to Antony’s friend

Kochi: The initial breakthrough in the search for the notorious criminal Aadu Antony was made by the police squad formed for Maoist hunting. The squad traced Bindu, his first wife, whom he married in 1999, in the Malampuzha valley and she told them that their son was studying in a school at Ottappalam in Palakkad.

Though Aadu Antony had married several women, he has only one son whom he used to contact through the landline of the school and his house. The police traced a number from which calls were coming, but it belonged to Antony’s friend. He told the police that Antony was living with his latest wife Bindu in Gopalapuram.

“He married Bindu by introducing himself as Selvaraj, a cloth seller from Kannur. Bindu’s brother lives in Coimbatore and Antony met Bindu through him. Bindu’s first husband had died of a heart attack and she has two children from that marriage. He went out for robbery at night on the pretext of collecting money from various places,” said police.

Bindu told the police the time of his arrival. Another team went to Bindu’s sister’s house in Coimbatore to keep a watch. “On Tuesday at 6 am, he called Bindu from a land phone and told her that he would come at 8 am. As he landed, he was caught,” the police said.

He lived in different names like Antony, Sreenivasan, Sathisan, Rajesh, Mohanraj and Selvaraj and advertised in newspapers seeking brides from various places. After his first wedding, he married Soja from Kodakara, Pushpa from Changanassery, Shyla from Sultan Bathery and Suja from Thiruvananthapuram.
