Khammam had not wore festive look

Khammam: The Bathukamma festival is being organised as namesake in the district. The women who are interested to participate in the programmes are not being involved.
The women employees in collectorate were kept away from the programmes and there is no information to them on it. The government sanctioned Rs 10 crore to organise the festival. Khammam district got Rs 1 crore for the same. The district officials were asked to organise the programme by decorating the district headquarters town and involve all the women and leaders who worked for formation of Telangana.
K. Kayani, an employee said that the collective responsibility and coordination have been missing in the festival. “There is no spirit of the festival and it is being organised as somebody’s affair,” she said.
The women who sing Bathukamma songs were not involved in the festival. Khammam had not wore festive look and the arches were set up only at some places.
The Batukamma Bazaar, which was organised adjacent to Sairam theatre, surprised everyone. Because, five stalls were kept empty and there is no material pertaining to the Bathukamma in the stalls. P. Sasikala, who visited the Bathukamma Bazaar on Wednesday, said that she was disappointed with it.
