As Lamar Odom fights for his life in a coma, it has emerged that he is still legally married to Khloe Kardashian.
The former couple signed divorce papers in July, but in order for the divorce to be finalised, a judge would have had to sign the final judgement documents. A representative for the Los Angeles Superior Court told Us Weekly that a judgement is yet to be entered into court, meaning that the divorce is not official.
As Khloe is still legally Lamar’s wife, she is making medical decisions on his behalf at the hospital, according to TMZ.
Khloe filed for divorce from Lamar in December 2013 after four years of marriage, amid allegations of drug abuse and after he admitted to cheating on the reality star.
The 31-year-old rushed to her ex’s bedside in Las Vegas on Tuesday evening after learning that he is in a coma, and she has remained there since. Her mother Kris Jenner and sisters Kim Kardashian and Kourtney are also at the hospital to support Khloe. Kendall arrived a short while afterwards, having flown overnight from Shanghai, where she was attending fashion week.
Lamar is fighting for his life after an alleged “crack-cocaine and opiate-fuelled” weekend and sources have claimed that his collapse may have been sparked by his negative portrayal on a recent episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Doctors are currently treating Lamar’s case as a non-suicidal drug-overdose, according to a source at the hospital who spoke with E! News and said doctors found “virtually every drug imaginable” in his system. TMZ claims that an MRI revealed Lamar suffered multiple strokes and it’s unclear if he has brain damage as a result.
