Salman has told me how actresses message him for work: Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor has always been unapologetic about her choice of films. The actress unabashedly admits that commercial cinema is her first love. So when constantly questioned about choosing Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the actress shot back, “All the actresses are dying to work with Salman — even the ones that he doesn’t want to work with. Unke ghar ke chakkar lagati hain. Salman has told me how they constantly message him. Besides, I love doing massy films. It’s easy for people to say why did Kareena do Singham or Gol Maal? Arrey! That’s my journey. I am first and foremost a mainstream star. .”

Is that why she turned down Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do? Because it wasn’t commercial enough? Or as the buzz was, due to Ranveer Singh?

She clarifies, “It wasn’t because of any actor. It was merely because it required me to be on a cruise for 90 days and at that point I didn’t want to be away from home for so long. Ranveer is terrific and I hope to work with him some day.”

Kareena, however, has come a long way since her debut Refugee. We remind her about how after the release, she had said that she can’t do glamorous roles like Karisma. “Maybe I wasn’t sure of myself then or maybe I was too much in awe of my sister. Today I see myself in all roles. Today I am known for being in some of the biggest blockbusters in the industry and no one can take that away from me.”
