IT companies provide jobs to over 1,500 Anna University students
Accenture, Cognizant, IBM, Infosys and TCS took part in campus placement
Chennai: Over 1,500 students from Anna University have got 2,122 job offers from five top IT companies. Hiring by IT companies started on October 1 and went on till October 12 for students of Anna University departments. Accenture, Cognizant, IBM, Infosys and TCS took part in campus placement. Over 1,500 students received 2,122 job offers with a salary package of around Rs 3.5 lakhs per annum, after various rounds of tests/interviews.
"Of the 1,500-odd students, about 1,200 would have received more than one job offer from these companies. We plan to conduct Tamil Nadu State-Level Placement Programme (TNSLPP) during December to help students from our affiliated private engineering colleges to get jobs," M.Rajaram, Vice- Chancellor of the university said.
T.Thyagarajan, director, Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC) at Anna University, said during the first phase of placement drive about 400 students got recruited in top IT product and core companies with a salary package ranging from Rs 4.5 lakhs to Rs 25 lakhs per year.
"During the third phase of placement, more core companies would participate in the placement process, in which 500 more students are expected to get placement offers," he said.
