Get status reports ready in a month, Jayalalithaa tells ministers
The meeting lasted more than an hour
Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Tuesday met state ministers at a closed door meeting at her Poes Garden residence and instructed them to prepare a status report in a month on all projects implemented. The meeting comes ahead of Jayalalithaa’s short trip to Kodanad on Wednesday.
The ministers arrived post lunch. The meeting lasted more than an hour. Finance minister O. Pannerselvam was the last one to leave. The ministers avoided the media.
According to AIADMK sources, Jayalalithaa in the past four-and-a-half years, had announced 181 schemes under rule 110 of the Assembly and instructed ministers to ensure that all schemes were implemented without any flaw. She also discussed about poll arrangements and the impact of freebie schemes.
Investment projects signed during the Global Investors Meet were also discussed. Party sources hinted that a few ministers were pulled up by J. Jayalalithaa for delay in project execution and were instructed to perform. Complaints by party men against ministers were also taken up during the meeting.
The sources also said on Wednesday morning, Jayalalithaa will leave Chennai by air to reach Kodanad. The party is also working on appointing new state-level office-bearers. The party will appoint a new organising secretary following the death of Sulochana Sampath and a new secretary for its farmer’s wing which post fell vacant due to the death of former MLA K. Thangamuthu.
