311 government employees hold BPL cards, cases filed

Kalaburagi: The Chief Executive Officer of Kalaburagi zilla panchayat, Anirudh Sravan, on Tuesday gave directions for registering criminal cases against 311 government employees who have secured BPL cards through false declarations.
Mr Sravan gave the direction to officials of food and civil services department at a meeting of Karnataka Development Programme(KDP) here.
The meeting was informed that of these 311 employees, majority were teachers of primary schools and employees of North Eastern Road Transport Corporation.
Mr Anirudh sought a report from the department of rural development and panchayat raj on the status of drinking water available at the Mullamari, Gandorinala and Amarja water reservoirs in the district.
The CEO’s direction came in the wake of reports that water in the reservoir would last only till December end for drinking purposes.
PWD authorities informed the meeting that 400-bed new government hospital, which is under construction, would not be ready before March 2016 as work of centralized AC fitting and other works were under progress.
