Aunt sues 12-year-old for breaking her wrist at birthday party

She complained that she now found it difficult to hold her plate at dinner parties

Is it even possible to sue a kid and demand for compensation? Well, one woman from New York apparently did just that by dragging her 12-year-old nephew to court for an accidental injury she had suffered on his eighth birthday party, reports the Daily Mail.

Jennifer Connell, who works as a human resources manager, is demanding $127,000 in damages from Sean Tarala, a resident of Connecticut, after he had jumped into her arms when she arrived at his birthday party on March 18, 2011. The 54-year-old told the judge in court that even though her nephew was ‘very loving’ and ‘sensitive’ towards her, he should be held accountable for his behaviour.

Shockingly, the boy’s mother, Lisa, had died only last year. She claimed that the injury had a deep impact on her life as she lives in a third-floor walk-up in Manhattan and even found it difficult to hold her food plate at a recent dinner party, reports the Connecticut Post. Fortunately, the jurors did not agree with her complaint and took only 25 minutes to rule in favour of Sean, according to the New York Daily News.
