Early this year the actor’s ancestral house in Peshawar was declared as national heritage. The house is located in Mohallah Khudadad area in Peshawar, where the 92-year-old actor was born and spent his early formative years.
Mahmud Kasuri told PTI, “I came here as a messenger of peace but faced protests on Monday. However, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis gets credit for providing me adequate security and ensuring nothing untoward happened to me.”
Dilip on the other hand gave Kasuri a copy of his autobiography, which the former minister later posed with on his way out of the house.
Kasuri presented the actor a copy of his book 'Neither a Hawk nor a Dove: An Insider's Account of Pakistan's Foreign Policy', which was launched in Mumbai early this week.
According to reports, the former minister spent close to an hour with Dilip Kumar and his wife discussing topics ranging from politics to films.
ORF Chairman Sudheendra Kulkarni , who accompanied Kasuri to all the three places, said the Pakistan leader was greeted with warmth by Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu.
Kasuri, who toured around the city, said he had deliberately chosen to visit Jinnah House, Mani Bhavan and Kumar's residence as the three figures were icons for both countries.
