Stalin’s temple visit is drama: AIADMK
Chennai: The ruling AIADMK took on DMK leader M. K. Stalin for his recent temple visit. An article in AIADMK’s Dr Namathu MGR newspaper, dubbed Stalin’s recent visit to Tirukoshtiyur temple as a “political drama” and a prelude to the 2016 assembly polls.
Recalling DMK’s criticism of Hindu Gods and traditions, the half-page article stated that “M. K. Stalin’s recent temple visit is a ‘drama’ and to counter this, the Hindus, Muslims and Christians will unite and give a fitting reply to the party in the ensuing assembly polls.”
The article also wanted to know from Stalin as to why the sudden shift in his ideology from atheism to a temple visit. The DMK always enjoys ridiculing Hindu traditions and supports the recent Dravidar Kazhagam’s thaali (mangal sutra) removal programme in April fueling controversies among devout Hindu, the article read, adding that while DMK takes pleasure in ridiculing Hindus, it now resorts to statements saying it is a party of Hindus with more than 90 per cent of its cadres belonging to that religion.
The article also described Stalin as a clueless, self-confessed atheist, contradicting his own statements and wanted to know why the party, founded by Dravidian veteran C.N.Annadurai, was compromising on its stand against Hinduism. It also recalled that Stalin greeted people on Vinayaka Chaturthi last year, but later said the greetings were a mistake by those handling his Facebook account.
