Rashmi V: The hounding of an IAS officer
Bengaluru: How do you victimise an upright officer who is known for her integrity and honesty and strived hard for transparency in the administration throughout her career? Transfer her to a lesser known department which has no budgetary support or any work and let her languish.
Most of the bureaucrats in the state including law makers are not even aware of a department called Food Processing & Harvesting Technology. But the state government has found a convenient use for this obscure department by shunting a capable IAS officer Rashmi V., who is known for her integrity and transparency.
Following her no nonsense approach towards corruption wherever she served, the state government decided to address the thorny issues she raised by appointing her as the secretary of this department which has not been allotted any responsibility or funding.
According to sources in DPAR, on April 29, 2015, state government transferred Rashmi V. as the secretary to the government, Food Processing & Harvesting Technology Department which has its office in the Multi Story Building of the city.
She was transferred following her explosive report to the state government recommending CBI investigation into the multi crore scam at the Administrative Training Institute in Mysuru. Her report sent shock waves in the bureaucratic circles as she named one of her senior officers in the report. The humiliating treatment meted out to her has rankled officers.
