Kerala High Court bats for O2 parlours in court
Kochi: Kerala High Court on Monday opined that oxygen parlours should be set up at the high court so as to provide support for advocates and litigants coming to the court.
The court asked the state government to inform the court whether it would be feasible to provide oxygen parlors at the court.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice Anu Sivaraman passed the order when the bench noticed an advocate finding it difficult to argue as he was gasping.
“There are a good number of senior citizen among advocates practicing in the High Court. It appears that many of them have the same problem that the advocate faced on Monday morning.”
The issue needs to be addressed in terms of Article 21 of the Constitution of India by providing appropriate support for the advocate, advocate's clerk, staff and other litigants who come to the court, since they have to move to various courts on eight floors, the court observed.
The court asked the concerned officers to discuss the issue with the Registrar General of the court.
