Sitting for long periods of time is not harmful to your health: study
There’s a new research which suggests that sitting for longer duration doesn’t increase the risk of early death.
The scientists have claimed that negative health problem arises due to no movement but not due to sitting.
Past studies have suggested that sitting for longer period increases death risk even if the person is physically active.
A researcher also said an hour of exercise cannot cut down the negative effect of sitting.
While a controversial new research suggests that. sitting for long periods does not increase the risk of an early death.
Any stationary posture where energy expenditure is low may be detrimental to health, be it sitting or standing.
In this new study 5, 000 people were followed for 16 years and a record was kept of their sitting time at work, while watching Tv and during leisure time.
The study also included details of how much a person spends his time in physical activities.
Gender, age, ethnicity, etc were other factors taken into consideration.
After 16 years they concluded that sitting didn’t increase any risk of early death.
