Keerthy out, Saiyami in for Mani Ratnam’s next

The actress personally visited Mani and told him that she wasn’t suitable for the role
First it was Dulquer Salmaan who walked out of Mani Ratnam’s bilingual project a couple of weeks ago to make himself available for actor-filmmaker Pratap Pothen’s next Malayalam film. Then one of the female leads, Keerthy Suresh also quit the project. Rumours are abuzz that the actress personally visited Mani and told him that she wasn’t suitable for the role, and had second thoughts about it. It looks like Mani respected her words and let her go.
Now, the recent addition to the cast is the Mirziya actress Saiyami Kher, whose latest outing was the Telugu film Reya. She has bagged a role in this film, which is touted to be a revenge drama featuring Karthi, Nani and Nithya Menen. Sources close to the film unit say Saiyami has been roped in for a brief role, but is not playing the second lead.
“It’s too early to talk about this as of now,” the source adds. It’s to be noted that there have been a lot of changes in the project from the day it was announced. Before, the makers planned the movie only in Tamil, but later decided to make it a bilingual. Nani replaced Dulquer recently and the project was slated to start shooting in December.
However, it looks like Mani is on the lookout for a co-producer for the film’s Telugu version, due to which the project is getting delayed. It was only a couple of weeks ago that Ratnam decided to make it a bilingual. The film will have music by AR Rahman, and Ravi Varman will crank the camera.
