‘Rich’ Telangana holds back all bills
The government has stopped payment of all bills in the last two weeks
Hyderabad: While Opposition parties have stepped up pressure on the TS government to waive the Rs 8,000-crore crop loan arrears of farmers in one go, the state is struggling to meet its day-to-day expenses.
Despite the recent “A” grade given by ICRA to Telangana and claims of the government being the only ‘revenue-surplus state’ in India after Gujarat, the government has stopped payment of all bills in the last two weeks. It has given verbal instructions to all departments not to draw funds from the treasury except for salaries and pensions for staff.
