Two Sri Lankan fishermen rescued by Tamil Nadu counterparts
They were rescued by a group of fishermen of Arcotthurai along with their boat
VEDARANYAM: Two Sri Lankan fishermen, who drifted into Indian waters after their boat developed a technical snag, were rescued by Indian fishermen off the Kodiyakarai coast in Nagapattinam district on Sunday.
Later, they were handed over to the Indian Coast Guard who in turn they handed them over to Vedaranyam marine police who arrested them, official sources told Deccan Chronicle.
Preliminary enquiries reveal that Sri Lankan fishermen Roopadoss (21) and Nishanthan (23) of Paruthithurai ventured into the sea on Saturday, drifted into Indian waters and were stranded in the sea off Kodiyakarai.
They were rescued by a group of fishermen of Arcotthurai along with their boat and handed over to the Indian Coast Guard, sources added.
