Hyderabad: Shiva Reddy, the Khammam district committee secretary, is a native of Warangal and was wanted by the police for almost two decades.
According to sources in the AP police, Shiva Reddy was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in East Godavari district as his platelet counter had dropped drastically and it was suspected to be dengue.
An AP police source said, “With specific information that he was undergoing treatment in a hospital in the Agency area, the AP Special Intelligence Branch nabbed him. As his condition is serious he is being provided treatment. After two days, his arrest is likely to be formalised by the East Godavari district police.”
Police said he was picked up from Edugurralapalli at the East Godavari-Khammam border. Shiva Reddy has been involved in several major offences in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana State and Chhattisgarh including raids and killings of armed police personnel.
Following the recent kidnappings in Vizag Agency area, the AP police had stepped up vigilance and stumbled upon Yeruva Shiva Reddy.
Writer Vara Vara Rao said, “Police should produce Shiva Reddy immediately in court.”
