Maulana Azad National Urdu University students demand revamp
Hyderabad: Students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) are demanding supplementary exams apart from the regular semester exams.
As of now, if a student fails in one or more subjects in a semester, he has to wait till regular exams for the semester is held again.
Due to this, students say, the waiting time for them stretches a year till he gets a chance to clear the backlog. “This issue affects students in their final semester the most,” they say.
A final-year student said, “If a final semester student fails to clear one or more subjects he has to wait for a year to clear the backlog.
Clearing the backlog is necessary for him to seek a job or go for higher education.
There are instances wherein students who had chances of getting one or other job lost it because the waiting period for clearing the backlog was too long.”
By contrast, University of Hyderabad and a central university in the city give final semester students a chance to improve their scores for bettering career prospects in the form of 'special supplementary' apart from regular supplementary exams for clearing backlogs.
Shahab Ansari, a former member of the MANUU Students Union says, “The issue of starting supplementary exams was raised with previous administrations but without any effect.
We will be meeting the university administration again and press for holding supplementary exams.”
A senior official from the university said, "The university is for the students and we will do whatever benefits them. If the students come to us with genuine issues, we will do the needful.”
