TRS MP Kavitha vows assistance to farmer’s kin
Hyderabad: Telangana Jagrithi leader and Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha on Sunday said the organisation would provide immediate financial assistance to families affected by farmer suicides. Governmental assistance would follow. She slammed the Opposition for trying to malign the 15-month-old TRS government on the issue of farmer suicides.
She noted that farmers ignored the Opposition’s call for the Telangana Bandh on Saturday, which turned out to be a flop. Even the Heritage outlets owned by AP CM N. Chandrababu Naidu’s family were functional, and this showed the hollowness of the claim of Telugu Desam leaders from Telangana that the bandh was a success. “If the TD was so serious, how was it that the heritage outlets remained open on Saturday,” Ms Kavitha asked.
Referring to epic Mahabharatha, the TRS MP said the Opposition was like Kouravas, and the “TRS, as the Pandavas, will win the political battle.”
She said the Telangana Jagrithi has announced adoption of a few families of the victims, which would be extended financial help. “The government is taking time to reach the affected farmer families due to cumbersome rules and procedures. The Telangana Jagrithi has, meanwhile, identified 389 such families, and immediate help would be provided to them,” she said.
She said, so far Telangana Jagrithi received Rs 1 crore towards this and it plans to extend Rs 2,500 per month to each affected family for four years.
