JD(U) minister caught taking bribe

Awadhesh Kushwaha receiving Rs 4 lakh video goes viral on social media
Patna: A video showing a JD(U) candidate and a minister Awadhesh Kushwaha receiving Rs 4 lakh from a person in lieu of some work has gone viral on social media. Political opponents particularly the Hindustani Awam Morcha alleging violation of model code of conduct has planned to approach the election commission on the issue.
Senior HAM leader Danish Rizwan while talking to this newspaper on the issue said, the video exposes the corruption ring within the JD(U), and according to him ‘there are several candidates like the one seen receiving money in lieu of work. What we could make out from this video is that the candidate was receiving money to help the businessman after the formation of their government. We will approach the election commission demanding probe and action on the issue’.
HAM leader said video clearly shows JD(U) candidate and excise minister Awadhesh Kushwaha receiving money from a person claiming to be a businessman and after he received the money he also spoke with a minister about it. It is still not clear who the minister was but HAM spokesperson said, “I think it was the industry minister.”
A copy of the video is available with HAM and it will be submitted to the EC for further enquiry. The sting operation in which a JD(U) candidate caught receiving money may create trouble for Nitish Kumar and other grand secular leaders.
According to sources in JD(U), ‘the party has taken the issue seriously and may take action against the candidate after the enquiry report’.
However as per reports, Awadhesh Kushwaha has resigned from the post of minister after party served him show cause notice on the issue.
His name also figures among few top crorepati ministers.
