Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala: No fresh probe into Swami Saswathikananda death
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has ruled out the possibilities of a fresh probe into the death of former Sivagiri Mutt head Swami Saswathikananda.
The allegations raised by bar owner Biju Ramesh have already been probed by the Crime Branch police, he told reporters in Kochi. “If the Swami’s relatives lodge a complaint, it will be handed over to the investigating agency. But it is the agency’s prerogative whether a probe should be conducted. A probe is needed only if anything new is found in the revelations made by Biju Ramesh,” he said.
“Either the Chief Minister or the Home Minister should decide whether a probe into the Swami’s drowning is required. If we get a complaint from his relatives, it will be passed on to the investigative agency,” he said.
