Praising Gunasekhar for coming up with a film like Rudhramadevi, veteran director and producer Dasari Narayana Rao said at a media conference on Monday, “In recent times, no one has come up with a film on our Telugu culture and history. Even I don’t dare to make such a film because it’s very difficult and dangerous. But Gunasekhar put all his own money and made this excellent film.”
“Industry people should watch this film first and then the youngsters to know about our history,” he added.
Dasari also praised Anushka for her efforts in the film. “If not for her, the film wouldn’t have happened. The way she performed her character was excellent,” he says, adding, “You can act in 100 films with big stars, but this kind of characters will be remembered forever.”
Talking about Allu Arjun’s special appearance, Dasari said, “He is a big star but he still came in on his own to do this character and help Gunasekhar. He is great and every big hero should learn from him. I know him from his childhood and I can’t praise him more, but everyone should laud his gesture.”
Meanwhile, he criticised others for releasing their films within a week of Rudhramadevi. “If this film’s producer has to recover his money, he needs at least two weeks to run the film in theatres. But it is very sad that one week later, two more big films are releasing. There’s no need for big stars’ films to release during festivals. Whenever their films release, it becomes a festival automatically,” he said.
